Motorcycle Repair: transmission level, ultra groundpounder, transmission level

Question
I have an Ultra Groundpounder s&s 113 with a 5 speed transmission.I have been told that the transmission holds 22 ounces of fluid. When I check the dipstick, one time it shows nothing, the next time shows over full, then add and so on. The bike is upright & level, dipstick touching threads. I have had 22 ounces in it and it leaks. What am I doing wrong? I drained and filled with 20 ounces and check the stick and the same thing, no fluid, add and so on.

Answer
First, make sure you check it when the bike is hot. Also, let it sit for a few minutes before checking it. As to how much it holds, I am not going to e able to tell you. It depends on whos trans Ultra uses. Dont worry about the OZs. Go by the mark on the dipstick. Also, make sure you are putting the dipstick in straight or square withe the threads or you will get a false reading.
Your leak is probaby comig from the main seal in the trans which is located on the left side of the trans.
Good luck and happy riding
