Motorcycle Repair: after start spark above front cylinder, dick rogers, blue spark

Question
2003 Yamaha 1100VStar Silverado.
Just went in for 8000 mile tune-up.  Upon getting back from dealer have observed and heard on numerous random occasions a bright blue spark above right side of front cylinder.  Only happens within 5 seconds of startup and not consistently.  Taken back to dealer who claims to have pulled tank and done several checks but was unable to find cause.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Dick Rogers

Answer
Hi Dick,

I suspect a current leak on the ignition coil secondary lead.

To verify, run a screwdriver's shaft along the lead and watch for the arc as the shaft passes over the lead.

Also try spraying a fine mist of water along the lead and watch for an arc.
