Motorcycle Repair: 1994 Kawasaki GPZ 900 R Cam Chain, kawasaki gpz 900, chain tension

Hi,my bikes cam chain rattles very badly at around 5000 rpm and on the engine overun.It is ok at tick over.Could you please tell me the method of tensioning the cam chain.

Hi Bob,

The timing chain tension should be checked. If the problem persists after adjustment, the cahin and tensioners may need replaced.

I recommend you obtain a copy of the Service Manual.

The manual has illustrated procedures for this and all other maintenance and repairs. It will pay for itself with the first repair you perform.
