Motorcycle Repair: Suzuki repair, mac websites, digital and analog

Question
1998 suzuki indruder vs800gl
I have pulled the carbs out and I will open them up, clean and re-assembly. I know I will have to balance the carbs, so I purchased a set of gauges.
My question is... I don't know what to use to set the rpm, if I purchase a tack, I don't know were to hook it up. What temporary tack should I use, how to hook it up?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thank you
Tony

Answer
Hi Tony,

I use expensive digital and analog tachometers. Instead of buying an expensive tool, adjust idle speed by ear.

Start and warm the engine and listen to the idle. Remember the aproximate idle speed. Check synchronization, and make adjustments if necessary. Adjust idle speed during and after synchronizing as needed.

Otherwise, visit Snap-On or Mac websites for the tools. Other brands are available.

Meter connection instructions are included with the product.
