Question
i have a 1975 honda cb 550 four that runs perfecrt sometimes then i get gas getting into the exhaust i thought it was the plug wire on the # 2 cylinder or it could be the coil maybe?just a week ago the bike ran like new out of the crate now i'm getting gas in the # 2 cylinder what could be causing this? it has happened several times since i've owned the bike

Answer
Hi Phillip,

Without being present to inspect the MC, it can be difficult to accurately diagnose the problem.

Possible causes that I suspect are:

Ignition system problem
Weak or defective battery
Carburetor needle valve(s) not sealing
Worn, fouled, or defective spark plugs
