Motorcycle Repair: drive chain, honda cb 250, bill silver

Question
1993 Honda CB 250 Nighthawk.  This bike could be from the '60's near as i can tell.

Drive chain:  I cannot find the master link on the drive chain, which needs to be replaced.  The drive chain is supposed to have a clip on the master link.  Could this be a chain where I need to press out a pin, rather than remove a clip?

Many Thanks!

Answer
Pat, the microfiche indicates that the bike came with a master link, but the chain could have been changed and a endless chain or riveted masterlink type installed.

When properly lubed and adjusted, they will last quite a long time, but it is a highly stressed part and exposed to heat, temperature changes, moisture and lots of torque loadings during normal operation.

If you have looked inside and outside the chain for a link and don't see one, then it must be riveted. Either get a chain breaker tool or a small grinder to grind the side plate from a link and then separate it. Feed the new chain onto the old one with the new link and draw it through the chain guard and front countershaft cover carefully, until it comes back out and then drop off the old chain, connect the new chain's ends with the master link, adjust the chain and go riding!
