Motorcycle Repair: Front Fork Fluid Honda CL100 1971, honda cl100, bill silver

Question
How much fluid does it take for each side and how do I put it in? Thanks.

Answer
Honda spec book shows 4.4 to 4.7 oz( 130-140cc) to refill a dry fork and 4.1 to 4.4 oz (120-130cc) of fork oil or you can use ATF. Small 10mm drain bolts on the bottom of the forks.

The top chrome nut in the fork assy must be removed carefully (use a socket and ratchet wrench to ease installation) to refill the fork assembly.

The fork nut is holding the fork spring under compression, so you have to back it off carefully and then compress the spring while turning the nut back into the end of the fork assembly. Do one side at a time with the bike on the centerstand to help take the weight off the front forks.
