Motorcycle Repair: carbs for a cb750 f SS, calibration issue, ebaymotors

Question
I bought an old 1978 cb750f supersport that sat with gas in it for a few years. I cant find a carb rebuild kit. I did find a shop in Iowa that will rebuild them or exchange them for a set that have been rebuilt, however, they dont have 1978. Is there a comparable carb set from a differrent year that would work? ...Thank you Erik

Answer
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=4559425050  They should have full kits, too, but I am not that fond of the Keyster kits, in general.

Have your dealer check the K&L catalogs, too. The carb sets are similar for both 1977 and 1978, but for some reason the 1977 set is stamped PD41B and the 1978s are PD42A. The main jet and idle jet sizes are the same, so there may be a slightly different needle taper or other calibration issue. Physically, they are probably interchangeable.

You will probably need an accelerator pump diaphragm, in addition to the gaskets and O rings.

Check with any m/c salvage yards in your area to see if there is a set on their shelves somewhere...
