RV Repair: Electrical Outlets, coachmen travel trailer, rv forum

Question
Good Morning, I have a 1984 32' Coachmen Travel trailer. It has been in
storage for three years. (read as parked in my fathers back yard) It
developed a leak in the front left had side and rotted all the wood out.
My father replaced the wood and semi replaced the paneling. The problem
is two fold. When moved the trailer 2 weekneds ago to a campgound, the
outlets near where the leak was left side wall forward of the sink (the
outlet at the sink workds) and the front half of the trailer do not
work. The first weekend we moved it the outside outlets worked but when I
went up last weekend they didn't. For the outside lights I read in an
RV forum that it could possible be wired to the GFI outlet in the
bathroom? I will check that this Friday. Any ideas or help for the other
outlets? Thank you

Answer
Hi Thomas:
Checking the GFIs is a good idea. Many coaches protect their circuits from GFIs. The others may have blown their breakers when they got wet so check those. Pull the outlets to expose the wire connectios they may be corroded or broken off. If all that works then there is probably a broken or disconnected wire somewhere. These can be hard to find, The searching is frustrating and time consuming but if you want the outlets to work you have to do it.
Good luck.
Bill
