Motorcycle Repair: Mark, Ive just added a Thunder..., vance hines pipes, continuity resistance

Question
Mark, I've just added a Thunder Air Kit and Vance & Hines pipes to my 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad. Also a Techlusions FI module. The coil for the front cyclinder sometimes dosen't fire on startup and only starts working if I take off and bring the rpms up. I've switched coils and disconected the FI module and it's made no differance. I can't help but wonder if I damaged a lead wire somewhere while making the modifications. I checked the wires/connection at the coil. it's fine. Also all wiring at the ECU.  What's next?

Answer
Hi Rick,

Either a conductor wire or connector is defective or loose, or the FI needs tweaked.

Inspect each wire and connector with a VOM (multimeter) for continuity/resistance. Consider reversing the work and the new parts to see if the problem clears up.

Visit "www.motorcycle-usa.com"'s Message Board and "www.vroc.com" and inquire with other Nomad owners who may have had the same experience.

Respectfully,
Mark Shively
