Motorcycle Repair: throwout bearing, rear exhaust, fxb

how do i replace my throwout bearing on a 81 fxb sturgis i know its a long process so thank you in advance

Answer
The throwout bearing is located under the cover on the end of the trans on the right side of the bike.
Remove the rear exhaust if it is in the way. Drain the trans. remove the cover. Under it you will see a rod with the throw out bearing on the end of it. There is a small clip holding it on so remove the clip and the bearing and install the new one. Put everything back together and put in the proper amount of fluid.
If you  have a kick starter you will have to push it down like it is being kickstarted to get it back in place before installing the cover.
