Motorcycle Repair: keihin 40mm cv carb, intermediate jet, 40mm

My husband, Jimmy, has a 2002 Standard Softtail FXST.  Someone "gave" him a Keihin 40mm cv carburetor. Didn't give him any paperwork on the thing though...no information on specs, how to adjust, etc.  Bike is "coughing".
Can you tell us how to go about making adjustments on this carb or maybe a website that might have that kind of information.  Hope this is enough information for you.

Since you dont know what the carb was set up for, then the carb is probably not jetted right for your bike. the coughing condition is from being to lean. You will have to remove the intermediate jet and go a little bigger.
