Motorcycle Repair: battery, motorcycle battery, charging system

I do not have a Harley, but have a very broad question that I hope you will be able to help with.  My motorcycle battery won't stay charged and I am a bit on the stupid side with bikes.  Do they have an alternator?  Is it called by a different name?  What else could the problem be?

You bike comes with a charging system consisting of a battery, alternator or generator, voltage regualtor and wires. If your battery is not staying charged then you might have a bad battery, so have it tested. If the battery is ok then you need to have the other componants int he system tested to see which one is bad.
