Motorcycle Repair: ROD KNOCK, HONDA HELIX, honda helix, life span

Question
BOBB4245@YAHOO.COM
1987 HONDA HELIX 250CC FOUR STROKE.26000 miles.
It has a rod knock, not real bad yet but unmistakable.
Can you tell me if it is the big end or the small end that usually goes first?
I'm hoping that it is the small end as that will be an easier fix.
I just bought this machine and it is my first honda.
I've been riding and wrenching on an old harley flathead for the past 26 years .

Answer
Hi Bob,

There is no "usual" rod end failure. It can be either end.

Start with the easiest and work your way into the lower end as necessary. I'll send a few tech files to your email.

I can appreciate the H-D experience. That's a long life span.

Respectfully,
