Motorcycle Repair: Problems starting motorcycle, water in the fuel, check fuel

Question
I have a 1985 Yamaha Maxim 700. It doesn't start. I had it fixed once and the diagnostic was water in the fuel and dirty carbs. Fuel system was flushed and carbs cleaned. After picking it up, it worked fine for the ride home. Put it in the garage when I got home and later on it wouldn't start again.

Answer
Hi Jean-Marc,

If the problem of not starting is related to the services performed, I suggest returning to the shop where the service was performed and discuss the problem with them.

Otherwise, check the spark plugs for fouling. Check petcock positioning for appropriate fuel delivery. Check fuel level.

It's difficult for me to diagnose the problem due to a lack of information about the problem.

Did the engine rotate when attempting to start? If the engine did not rotate, did the Maxim make any sounds while trying to start the engine? Etc...

The more info you provide, the better answer I can return. Also, there was no email with your question as requested.

Respectfully,
