Motorcycle Repair: battery ?, kawasaki ninja, jumper cables

Question
I have a 93 kawasaki ninja and it keeps cutting out on me when i ride it. my battery may be the problem, i put jumper cables on it and it starts perfect then it cuts off after a few moments. i got a battery charger and it worked for a day then the next day it cut off again. i think i need a new battery, but my friend said a ground or positive wire may be short. what do you think is wrong?

I usually only answer questions on harleys, but I might be able to help you.
First, have your battery tested to make sure its good. If not, replace it. If the battery is good then, with a volt meter, start the bike and test at the battery. You should show around 13 or higher. If not then you have a problem with the charging system.
