Motorcycle Repair: trans alignment, cocking, bolts

Question
1985 fxwg  4 speed. My two bolts in the rear of the transmission, through the inner primary are resting towards the back of the hole, not touching but towards the rear of the hole. I can screw them in with my fingers, no binding. The two front studs are in the same position, not touching the inner primary hole, but very close. The back of the inner primary is totally flush with the transmission, no cocking or binding. Is this good enough so my mainshaft seal won"t leak.  thanks matt

Answer
Your question is a little confusing to me, so I will tell you how to align a trans to make sure you have it right.
Loosen the trans bolts that hold the trans in place. They are under the trans. Now the trans should slide around. Now install the inner primary. After you have the inner primary installed, go back and tighten the trans bolts. The inner primary aligns the trans.
Good luck and happy riding
