Motorcycle Repair: 1993 GPZ500S fork seals removal, right and a wrong way, lee shaw

Question
Hi Mark, I am having trouble seperating the fork stansions from the legs to replace the seals and oil, is there a right and a wrong way, or a fast and a slow way, cos right now I feel like lighting a match below the tank to see how high it can jump!, The forks are off the bike, the oil is drained now I'm stuck.
If you can offer any words of wisdom I am all ears (or eyes as the case may be),
Thank you in advance
Lee Shaw

Answer
Hi Lee,

Remove the bolt on bottom of fork legs. Bolt connects inner tube with outter tube (hidden by alxe).

Next, remove fork seal dust cover, foillowed with retaining clip.

Hold outter tube while pulling inner tube up. Weight/momentum of tube being raised against fork seals will remove old seals.
