Motorcycle Repair: proper cleaning, soap and water, engine degreaser

Question
My man recently acquired a box truck full of misc. Harley parts-from manuals, tires, to a couple of complete engines...my question is, since part of this load was dirty engine parts-both steel and aluminum-what is the proper procedure for thoroughly cleaning and protecting these parts? What cleaner and protectant would you suggest? The majority of this stuff will either be sold to the general public or to club brothers and I want to be more than sure everything is as it should be. Thank you.

Answer
You need to get you some engine degreaser. You can get it at any automotive parts store. Clean all the parts with it and then soap and water. The steel parts will ahve to be painted or they will rust. The aluminum parts will be ok.
Good luck and happy riding
