Motorcycle Repair: no fire on front cylinder, motorcycle battery, honda shadow

Question
Hello Mark.  Thanks in advance for any help you can shed on this problem.
I purchased an '88 VT800 Honda Shadow from a kid who had run the battery dead, tried to jump start it, and messed SOMETHING UP BIG TIME!
There's no fire going to the front cylinder - back is okay. Going through the manual, I've checked about EVERYTHING but everything keeps going back to the pulse generator. I got a new pg but still have the same problem. I've checked the obvious, continuity on all wiring, have swapped the coils (ok), have replaced the spark unit, etc.
Still can't get ANY fire to the front cylinder. I've called every mechanic in our area, but no one can come up with any more hints.
Do you have any suggestions?

Answer
Hi Roger,

I have a Question for you: Was the VT jump started from a car or truck battery, or any other non-motorcycle battery? If so, describe.

Do you have a decent VOM (multimeter)?

I return tech files via email. Remember to include your email addy with question as requested.

Resepctfully,
Mark Shively
