Question
I was doing 70mph going down the road when my bike just started to slow way down even tho i was still given it gas(slowed to about 40mph) then when I stopped it would not start back up, it turns over but does not fire, there was no out of the norm sounds coming from my bike when it dropped in speed, and I've done all the checks the Haynes Owners Worksop manual speaks of like coil, plugs and so on and still have no idea as to the reason it will not fire over(did note that the plug spark seemed to be very faint) can you help me in what might be the cause... thank you

Answer
Mike, it sounds like it ran out of gas! Check the fuel tank petcock filter/screen. If the petcock has a vacuum operated fitting, then check the diaphagm for failure. If not, then I would check the fuel pump/relay and the fuel filter. Just follow the fuel line out from the tank through the chassis to the carbs.

If you have some kind of sparks on all four plugs, then the ignition system is probably okay. Do check the KILL switch for internal contact failure if you have no spark, but that doesn't sound like the case.

Take a small screwdriver and open each float bowl drain to see if you have fuel in the system.
Hopefully, you didn't run it out of oil or have some kind of catastrophic camshaft/tensioner failure. Check the compression to be sure that you have 4 good cylinders, if the other troubleshooting steps don't work.
