Audi Repair: audi a6 bonnet release problem, audi a6 avant, audi a6

Question
I own an 'N'Reg Audi A6 avant estate, but I am unable to release the secondary bonnet catch,i.e.the one situated in the front grill. It seems that the connecting cable is missing or disconnected. The one under the dash board is O.K.Please help if possible,Thanks.

Answer
This sometimes gets damaged, and parts (little lever) go missing.  You will have to look at another car to make a piece of clothes hanger fit to operate this secondary release; it can be done but it it not easy.  Once you get this released, have a replacement ready or get a replacement ordered straightaway, if this secondary catch is not installed, if then anything, ever happens with the main lock, the hood will come straight up and you will be in major trouble, with the initial damage of a smashed windshield, roof damage and a wrecked hood.  That's before you hit anything.  DO NOT DRIVE WITHOUT A SECONDARY LATCH IN PLACE...!
