Motorcycle Repair: vapour barrier, gsxr 1100, bill silver

Question
i have a 1986 gsxr 1100.  i am getting a vapour barrier between fuel tank and carbs.  there is no blockage at the tank or in the line.  what would cause this?

Answer
Rob, vapor locks usually happen because of overheating of the fuel line or fuel handling components due to their proximity to engine heat. Sometimes a layer of aluminum foil will help to reflect the heat.

The fuel tank has a petcock screen inside the tank that should be inspected for blockage.

Also be sure that the tank is venting properly.

I imagine that there are some GSXR websites out there that can be more helpful on this problem, especially if it is known to be widespread.
