Motorcycle Repair: sprockets, rear sprocket, tooth sprocket

Question
i have a 1981 honda 750c and it has a 43 tooth sprocket on the rear when i run 60 mph im reved 5000 r.p.m s what tooth do i need to drop the r.p.m s way down? i would like to have a good cruising gear..thanks floyd

Answer
Hi Floyd,

Final drive sprocket ratio is 3:1

Change the rear sprocket in three point (teeth) inciments. Front sprocket is changed in one point incriments.

For more top end speed, drop down to a 40 point rear sprocket.

To change engine speed, change the front sprocket.
