Motorcycle Repair: 93 Yamaha, press engine start gas icon lights up, yamaha seca ii, electrical diagnosis

Question
I have a 93 Yamaha Seca II and when I go to start it up the gasoline icon on the dash lights up but I don't hear the engine even try to turn over. The bike was running a couple of hours ago and a friend was riding it and hit a curb and popped the chain.  I was able to get the chain back on but since then this issue has been occuring.  The headlights work, turn signals work, but when it is in neutral the N does not light up.  I did check the gas tank and there is gas in there.  I am hoping that the light is a generic error.  Please let me know if you need anymore information.  Thanks for the great service.

Answer
Hi Brian,

I suspect the electrical system has developed a gremlin. Possibly caused by the sudden shock of impact with the curb or roadway.

May be a defective fuse, CDI, loose connection, or other cause.

You or someone should perform electrical diagnosis to find the possible source of the problem.
