Motorcycle Repair: Brake light problems, foot brake, brake switch

I have a 90 FLHS, my brake light works only when using the hand brake and not the foot brake. What could this be and where is it located.

Follow your brake line back until you see a block with the brake switch sitting on top of it. There will be two wires connected to it. Turn the key on and with a testlight check both wires going to the switch. One should be hot ad the other should be hot when you press the brake pedal.  If one is not hot then you have a bad wire and need to trace it out. If you have a hot wire, but when you press the brake pedal the other wire isnt hot then you have a bad switch and need to replace it.
