i have a 2004 1100 shadow sabre and i want to know how to get the stock grips off of it.  I want to put on after market grips i just dont know how to get the grips off.

Hi Bobby,

I recommend the Service/Repair Manual for learning how to remove and replace grips.

The task is not too difficult, but can be frustrating at times. The manual has illustrated descriptions of the procedure.

The task may require cutting the grips, removing/loosening grip adhesives with spray chemicals, disassembling grip housing to remove throttle cables, and more. Consider using brake spray cleaner or alcohol to ease removal and prep new grips for installation. Consider using hair spray or a 3M spray adhesive on the new grips.
