Motorcycle Repair: How to lower a Dyna?, independent shop, dyna

Question
I have a 2004 H.D.Dyna Super Glide. I would like to change out the seat and lower the rear end to get a lower ride, around 25" if possible. Can I cut the springs or purchase shorter springs? Can the shocks be adjusted so that it won't bottom out? Can I do this on my own or should I have a dealer or independent shop do the work?

Answer
What you are going to have to do is purchace new shocks for the rear. You cant cut or replace the spring with a shorter spring.
You should be able to lower the rear no more than an inch or you will have a bottom out problem.
Good luck and happy riding
