Motorcycle Repair: Leaking fuel, needle nose pliers, sabmag

Question
I have a 83 Magna V45. I noticed that the hose under the fuel valve is wet (fuel). Is replacing the hose a job for a novice? The hose is well hidden underneath the seat. It looks very hard to get at.

Answer
Kai, the bike could just have a split hose or it may have a leaking petcock diaphragm. Read your book about removal of the seat and fuel tank, so you can access the real problem. You will need some long nosed needle nose pliers to help facilitate the hose connections and you may have to drain the tank, if the petcock has to come off or be repaired.
