Honda: vtec, integra gsr, crossover point

Question
hey i dont have a S2000 :( but i do have a integra GSR now my question was, do you think its a bad idea to get a VFC controller ya know, to lower when the vtec kicks in?  i just got new cams and sprokets now people say that wont make a difference unless i get a vfc to help tune and control my car it this that nesscary?

Answer
Jason, it is beneficial, though not necessary to get a VAFC.  You may want to get it tuned by a shop with a dyno.  Also...please note that VTEC is only good at high RPM.  If you lower the VTEC crossover point too much, then you will actually lose power down there.  VTEC works to optimize performance below and above the VTEC switch point.  The low lift settings give you low-end power; the high lift, long duration settings give you high-end power.

Also, there is now a VAFC II available which gives you more versability.  It also may provide some good used first generation models.

Good luck,
B
