Motorcycle Repair: idle speed v-star 1100, electrical diagnosis, pod filters

Question
Hi I have an Yamaha 04 vstar 1100. I just installed pod filters and pipes, also rejetted carbs. The bike runs great but has a fast idle until the bike is at a complete stop. On the jack with the idle set at 1k I spin the rear wheel an the idle go's up to about 1500 rpm then back down when I stop spinning it. The TPS is set within spec. The speed sensor doesn't seem to test right but the speedo works fine (i think they are linked). I am going to test the heater circuit next. I don't think I had his problem before the resent mods.
Thanks for any help
John

Answer
Hi John,

Check for intake air leaks around intake manifolds, carburetors, vacuum hoses.

Check carburetor synchronization.

If the above are within service limits (specs), look into electrical diagnosis of the parts you've mentioned.

Obtain a copy of the service manual. It will pay for itself with the first repair.
