Motorcycle Repair: Carbs problem, kawasaki zzr 600, mixture adjustments

Question
I have a 91 Kawasaki ZZR 600 and I think I have a carb problem. The bike is guzzling fuel (250km s per tank instead of 350km s), acceleration is not "quite there", it wont start with the choke (think it might flood) and inside of the exhaust is extremely black. I thought I might try and take on the task of completely stripping the carbs, cleaning, reassembling and syncing/balancing. I imagine that this involves all sorts of vacuum guages and mixture adjustments. Basically, I want to compile as much information and hints/tips for doing this before I even start, so that I am as well prepared as possible. Anything actaully specific to the ZZR would be great. Obviously, I would like some info regarding the guages I would need to buy for the syncing/balancing too. Kind regards, Stuart.

Answer
Hi Stuart,

There's no question here.

I return tech files via email. There's no email address for you as requested.

FYI: Excessive fuel consumption is caused by worn needle jets, excessively rich air-fuel mixtures, and agressive riding habits.

Inspecting and cleaning the carburetors would be a good idea. Find carb stix and carb tools at the following websites:
