Motorcycle Repair: Yamaha XJ 700 Maxim -85, column menu, bikebandit com

Question
hi.
This might sound a little stupid, but my bike has a low idle, about 600rpm. I think that the right idle should be 1050rpm and my question is how can I adjust the idle?

Answer
Hi Jake,

Visit the following website and select your MC from the menus:

http://parts.yamaha-motor.com/

Once the site opens, click on the "Carburetor" link in the left column menu. Look at part #6. This is the idle adjust screw/knob. It is located between the two inner carbs, and near the bottom of the carbs.

If the above link does not work, use "www.yamaha-motor.com" Also, visit "www.bikebandit.com" to see mircofiche and parts prices.

No question is too painful to ask. : )
