Motorcycle Repair: I NEED YOUR HELP, putt putts, bandit 600

Question
I own a 97 Bandit 600, and it runs really well, but it recently has started to die when im riding it. It usually dies when it is idling around 1000rpm. It also dies if i open the throttle all the way while it is in neautral, or im just sitting their. It sounds like it is struggling to get gas because it sort of putt putts and dies. It also runs and has sort of a chuggish sound like it is struggling to survive!. I put new spark plugs in, checked the spring by the carbs, increased the idle control. Could it be the Carbs need cleaning?

Answer
I usually only answer questions on harleys, but I might be able to help. It sounds to me like you either have a plugged petcock, plugged vent int he gas cap, or plugged carbs.
I would start by removing the fuel line and make sure its freflowing. Next, start the bike without the gas cap on and see if it runs better. If both of those fail then the carbs will have to be removed and cleaned out.
Good luck and happy riding
Mike
