Motorcycle Repair: Installation of exhaust slip-ons., radical tuning, shively

I am interested in having a set of Samson slip-ons installed on my '05 Yamaha Tour Delux.  The individual who will be doing it said he will have to bore out the air intakes leading to the carbs (in place of re-jetting)and then replacing the existing air filters.  Exactly what will this proceedure entail and why does it have to be done?

Hi Ron,

Not to discredit the mechanic, but I'm curious about the described modifcation procedures for slip-ons. Sometimes such modifications are done with more radical tuning.

Contact Samson and inquire about installation procedures before the work is performed. Review the installation instructions that come with the pipe packaging.
