Motorcycle Repair: 1980 xt500g yamaha cdi box, wire colors, electrex

Need to acquire a cdi box for my motorcycle!Conversed with you earlier. Heard the years 80 & 81 boxes were the same for my motorcycle also heard that some models: sr500 & tt500 were similar. Located a used cdi box 78/79 yamaha sr500 unit and wondered if it was compatable to my motorcycle. Also been in contact with electrex: us & uk, electrexusa won't be making a unit till there is sufficient demand, sent electrex europe a picture and wire colors but haven't got a reply back for a few days now.Seems like I should try a after market unit. Have you heard of a cdi manufacturer: hyperpak performance ignition Auckland New Zealand? Saw a unit for my motorcycle on ebay where I see a lot of this brand for sale.

Hyperpak manufactures performance/race ignition control modules. I haven't used their products, though they are popular.

I cannot advise which years or models electrics will work for your MC. Let me know what you find.
