Motorcycle Repair: Battery Discharge, lynchburg virginia, honda shop

Question
I own an '02 Honda Shadow VLX Deluxe (583cc) that I purchased (used) last fall. The bike is in excellent condition with about 1700 miles. The only modification by the orginal owner was a light bar that was said to have been professionally installed. The problem is that when the bike sits for more than a couple of days, the battery becomes discharged. I have had the local Honda shop check the charging system, and they said it was working well. I have also had a new battery installed but the problem persists. What could be causing the battery to discharge, and how can it be diagnosed and repaired? Thank You, Richard Bailey, Lynchburg, Virginia

Answer
Hi Richard,

I would check for electrical current bleed/draw by connecting an amp meter in series with suspected circuits until I located the source of the bleed.

Start with any accessories, then move to other circuits as necessary.
