Motorcycle Repair: buell - preventetive maintenance, wd 40, winter storage

Question
My question is more about preventing any problems.  I was
unable to complete my winter storage when a major
blizzard hit Boston.  My bike is garaged, but there is no
door.  Since I was in the process of storing it for the winter,
I had yet to cover it.  As a result of the blowing snow from
the blizzard, my bike was covered in about a foot of snow.
I brushed and wiped off as much snow as I could, but I'm
worried about corrosion, rust, and any damage to the
internals that the snow and cold may cause.  Any advice or
recommendations regarding what I could/should do to
make sure that I won't have a problem come spring?  I
thought about spraying WD-40 in and around those areas
that were covered in snow, but I'm not sure if this is the
right thing to do.  Thanks for your time and input.

Answer
You did right be getting as much snow off as possible. You dont have to worry about the internals getting rusty, since you didnt get it underwater. What I would do is start the bike and get it get really warm. That will melt the snow off of it and evaporate the water off the motor. Might take a while. Once the water is evaporated then do what you normally do for winter storage. make sure the cover you use is a breathable one. That way the bike wont keep moisture on it when the weather changes.
good luck and happy riding
