Motorcycle Repair: Suzuki RM 125, clutch ??s, oil drain plug, suzuki rm 125

Question
I have a suzuki Rm 125 1998.

While riding the bike last weekend the clutch stopped working.  upon inspection, i noticed the drain bolt for the gear oil was missing - this means I was riding with no gear oil for maybe even a couple of hours I don't know. I refilled the gear oil, but the clutch still does not work. The clutch lever feels like it always has with plenty of resistance. Its a new clutch and I was wondering if their is a info you can give me about my problem.

Answer
Hi Steve,

The clutch plates and clutch springs will need replaced. Excessive heat from lack of cooling oil has cooked the metal and fiber plates. Metal plates will appear burned and have a blue like color.

Buy a new oil drain plug and safety-wire the bolt to prevent it from backing off.
