Auto Insurance Claims: Blown tire causes vehicle damage, passenger tire, warranty period

Question
My rear passenger tire blew (lost its tread according to the tire service center)
and severely damaged the wheel well. The tire was replaced free of charge by
the store I purchased it from, but does the manufacturer have any liability in
repairing the damage to my vehicle? The tire is still within the manufacturers
limited warranty period and I kept the blown tire in case I need to send
pictures or have it inspected by the manufacturer. Thanks in advance for your
time and assistance.

Answer
Hi David,

Unfortunately this is beyond my knowledge. You would have to contact the tire manufacturer and ask. Do not give up possession of the tire. You should go to a body shop first to get an estimate of the cost to repair the car. You may also want to speak to a products liability attorney who would be in a much better position to advise you.

I hope this helps
