Motorcycle Repair: Plug Problem, heli coil, spark plugs

Question
My bike was sputtering after a couple weeks in storage so I changed her spark plugs. The thing is, it looks like I've got some damaged threads, and one of my plugs won't screw in. Do I really need a whole new cylinder head or can I get this thing rethreaded or what? The bike won't run, of course, and I'm short on cash. What should I do?

Answer
No you dont need a new cylinder. The one you have can be repaired. There are two ways to do it. Either way the head will have to be removed.
1.  remove the head and drill out for a heli-coil.
2.  This is the one I recommend. Will last forever. remove the head and have a steel insert made for the hole. This is the way I repair them.
Make sure you use anti-seize on the threads before installing the spark plugs. This helps to keep the threads from stripping.
Good luck and happy riding
