Motorcycle Repair: oil drain plug, oil drain plug, heli coil

ramp broke putting bike in trailer. oil drain plug got caught an busted out stripping out all the threads. any ideals on the best way to repair.  2001 fxdwg

There are a only a couple of ways to repair this. One is buy a new tank and install. The other is remove the tank and have a machine shop make a steel insert for the plug. Either way the tank will have to be removed. I would not recommend a heli-coil. The threads are to shallow and removing the plug alot to change the oil will probably pull it out.
