Motorcycle Repair: Engine break in, piston rings, stroke engine

Hi Chris:
I've heard conflicting reports on the best way
to break in a new 4 stroke engine. Some say
drive it hard to seat the piston rings properly.
Most owners manuals say break it in slow and easy.
Who's right?

Hi John.
 Let me ask you this; Who do you think knows more about the engine?  The guys who designed and built it, or the guys on the street?

 When it comes to break in, I listen to the engineers every time.

Just take it easy till you hit the magic 500 mile mark, get the break-in tune up done, then rock and roll.
