Motorcycle Repair: electical problem, gl1200, rpms


Question
i accedently hooked up a battery charger backwards to my gl1200 goldwing now i get just a clicking sound from the bike ,when i hook up the charger to it i get a humming sound and tack meter goes to 3000 rpms but still wont start. question is what can happen when you hook up a battery backwards, what all should i check?already checked the fuse to the right of the battery that fuse is still good

Hi Fred.
 Fuses don't care which direction the current goes through them.  The electronic components (CDI,ignition coils, etc) however, are far more susceptible to current direction.  In this case, I would get the bike to the shop and have them test the electronics.  You may have fried something in there and the CDI requires a special tester to check properly.  Without that unit working, nothing will work right.
