Question
I have a 98 road king evo scr/eagle heads cam v/h 2into 1 and od trans pwr comm fuel inj 16k miles 2nd owner lately the bike has been missing stalling general poor peformance I asked the previous owner if he changed the gas filter he said no I took the top of the tank off and noticed the grey coating inside was flaking off mainly on the left side what should I do? and would possibly fuel inj cleaner poured into the tank might poss be responsibe for this condition?

Answer
There is a screen at the fuel pump, but it only needs cleaned.
Putting fuel inj cleaner will not solve the problem if you have alot of flaking of the coating.
I take all my tanks to a radiatior and gas tank shop. There they clean it and put in a coating which gets very hard and will cover any rust and stop the flaking. Check in the yellow pages for radiator shops that can do this for you. usually it is not very costly to have this done.
There is a products on the market that you can use yourself to line the tank, but they are a pain to use and the tank has to be very clean or it wont stick.
Good luck and happy riding
