I have an 85 maxim and one of my carbs won't drain, has gunk in it or sum thing. I poured carb cleaner in it and it help it to run better (it would choke out when I got on it) it still chokes a little. How can I get that crap out? I ve had the top of the carb off and I'm scared to go any farther without a diagram or something. I have the manual but it's to veag. I would appreciate any help, thank you.

Hi Terry.
 With the manual you should be fine to pull the float bowl off of the carb to clean it out.  Once it is off, you will see just how simple a mechanism that portion of the carb really is.

 It's just a bowl with a drain in it.  Pull it and remove the drain screw, then clean it out with some good quality spray carb cleaner and then replace the screw.
