Motorcycle Repair: Cagiva V-Raptor clutch, cagiva v raptor 1000, hydraulic clutch

Question
I have a 2001 Cagiva V-Raptor 1000. It only has 4500 miles and recently the biting point on the clutch reached the end of the clutch lever play. Only the slightest pressure on the clutch lever causes the clutch to engage. Is this something that can be easily adjusted or are we looking at a new clutch as the bike has done very few miles.

Many thanks

Answer
Hi Carl.
There is an adjuster for the clutch tension and freeplay at the lever end of the cable.
If this bike has a hydraulic clutch, then there are no adjustments to this.

There is an adjuster for freeplay on a hydraulic clutch at the piston side of the lever (your manual will show you where it is in detail).

There should be about 1/4 inch of lever freeplay before the clutch begins to engage.

Good luck.
