Motorcycle Repair: Water Pump Gasket, sincerley, inline four

Question
I have a 1882 CX500 with a water pump gasket leaking, I have been told I must pull engine to change the gasket, is there a way to do it without pulling engine from bike.  Thanks

Hi Gerald, I have heard it can be done. Although a Honda dealer is going to go by the book as will most independant shops, so they can gaurentee the repair. Whenever I have heard about the Mechanical seal (they call it) being replaced with the engine in frame it was the owner of the bike performing the repair. So in conclusion I would say yes there is a way but not at the dealer, unfortunately I have never been privi to the procedure but I do know it involves pulling the tank and carbs. Sorry I couldn't be of more help but I lean more towards the inline four cylinders when it comes to Honda.
