Car Upholstery: Headliner Repair, contact cement, chevrolet truck

Question
I have a 1988 Chevrolet Truck - S-10.   The headliner is sagging and coming loose above the left door.    I bought spray-on glue and a small roller, but it did not stick.   What would you suggest?    Thanks!

Answer
The pad turns to powder with time and connot be reglued. The headliner must be removed and completely stripped. Use a wire brush. I stock some cloth at $6-9/yard. Glue the new cloth starting from center, working to the corners. Use a good trim adhesive (7.50/spraycan) or contact cement($21/gal). Lap 2" over edges and glue also. Cut holes and reinstall. Hope this helps. Mark.
