Motorcycle Repair: 2000 sportster 1200C speedometer, harley dealership, harley dealer

bought bike with speedometer not working. Bumps a little when you turn key on. assume sending unit is bad? can that be repaired myself? Any idea on approximate part cost? Where is sending unit located and is it easily accessible? Local Harley Dealer is 45 minutes away.

Heres the best advise I can give you. Take a ride to the harley dealership. They have a tool that can do a diagnostic on the speedo and tell you what is wrong. It might not be the sending unit, so if you replace it you might be waisting your money. Once you find out what is wrong then you can replace the right part. Your speedo might be bad.
